O.K., Thursday, September 14th, it's early in the evening and Slash's Snake Pit is playing on stage to a very sparse crowd. This is when yours truly got the rare opportunity to interview lead singer Brian Johnson and Master lead Guitarist Angus Young of long time metal band AC/DC.

KIMO: First off, thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me.

BRIAN: No problem.

KIMO: I'm jumping right into this. The band hasn't toured in about eight years. You’re four shows away from finishing the U.S. leg of the Stiff Upper Lip Tour. How is everyone holding up at this point?

BRIAN: You had to bring this up first! It's true we haven't done this in a long time and, it does take a lot out of you being on the road for long periods of time. For jumping back into the fire like this everyone is doing great and having more fun than we have had in a long time.

ANGUS: We're having a blast doing this tour for everyone here in America. The response has been great.

KIMO: What shows are left to do in America?

BRIAN: We still have a show to do in Los Angeles and two shows in Oakland and San Jose. After that, we are going to Japan and Europe. We do get some time off to rest after America.

ANGUS: Rest would be nice (laughter).

KIMO: With the Olympics about to begin in Sydney, would you like to be playing in Australia during the events?

BRIAN: All I can say is that it would be interesting.

KIMO: Have you seen a change in your fans on this tour?

BRIAN: (Laughing) They’re getting older. Actually, we've seen a great mix of our long time fans and a lot of younger fans that are really getting into the earlier stuff.

KIMO: Could this be a mixed influence of radio airplay and parent's tastes?

ANGUS: Have we been around that long? I guess we have when we have fans that have teenagers that are fans.

BRIAN: That just means we have to put on a show that no one forgets.

At this point, the interview was interrupted with the band being told it was ten minutes till show time. I thanked them again and security rolled me to my seat . . .well seat area, I bring my own . . . front row. Thank you Easter Bunny, baak baak. On the way to my seat I noticed a 20-foot statue of Angus, two rows of revolutionary cannons, a 2-piece digital video screen system, towers and towers of speakers and one giant bell dangling above the stage. Something was definitely going to be happening here tonight. The stage unquestionably looked like an AC/DC greatest hits nightmare, or a wet dream depending on your point of view. The lights went down and the band took the stage and we took a 2 hour and 20 minute tour of three decades of the best hard rocking songs ever created. Some of the truly memorable moments included getting the entire audience to sing the classics, "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and "The Jack". Not to mention, the unforgettable images on the video screen during the song "Hard as a Rock". Thanks to all of the Las Vegas girls in the crowd who shared they're "star qualities" with all of us in attendance. Throughout the show, Johnson stalked the stage like a man possessed, and it wouldn't have been an AC/DC show without the signature striptease and mooning by Young. And, with a twenty-one cannon salute to "For Those About to Rock," the show, and many fans perfect hearing became a memory we would not soon forget. This band has definitely stood the test of time both musically and in live performance. Thanks guys, and once again, I am impressed.
